EarCandy ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information EarCandy collects, how it's used, and your choices.
Anonymous usage data. EarCandy generates a random, anonymous identifier on your device (not tied to your name, email, or any personal account) to measure basic usage — such as how many people use the app and roughly how long a listening session lasts. This identifier cannot be used to identify you personally.
Message board activity. If you post an announcement or reply in EarCandy's News section, we store the text you write, a timestamp, and the display name you choose to use. You are never required to use your real name.
Files you choose to narrate or listen to. Text from ebooks or documents you import is sent to our text-to-speech server solely to generate the audio you requested. This content is not stored permanently or shared with third parties.
EarCandy does not require account creation, does not collect your name, email address, or contact information, and does not track your location. We do not sell your data to anyone, for any reason.
EarCandy uses Google Firebase (Firestore) to store message board posts and replies, and Google Play services as part of normal Android app distribution. These services operate under their own privacy policies:
Text-to-speech processing happens on our own servers, not a third-party cloud provider. Message board data is stored via Google Firebase.
You can stop using the message board's display name at any time by choosing a new one. Since no personal account exists, there is no personal profile to delete — uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
EarCandy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
